Staying in Edinburgh

Depending on your budget you will find something to meet your needs, if you are on a tight budget then consider booking into a Youth Hostel, or using the camping sites around Edinburgh. Bed and breakfast in guest houses or in hotels can be a great way to stay and enjoy the city, just remember that Edinburgh is a very popular tourist destination and in summer you will need to make sure that you have pre-booked your b&b before visiting. Book well in advance of your trip so you are not disappointed; remember Edinburgh has tens of thousands of visitors in the spring to summer and during special events. Of course while the accommodation in Edinburgh may be booked you can always stay in nearby towns and villages or even in the countryside, within easy travel of Edinburgh – so you can still visit each day.

As with many other cities you will also be able to find other ways of staying and seeing the Edinburgh by renting a cottage or apartment that can work out cheaper than staying in a hotel. It can also help you save on eating out by having your own kitchen to cook in. On the cheaper side of the accommodation is renting a caravan or chalet, you will still need to budget several hundred pounds to rent a quality caravan nearby to Edinburgh.

Travel Edinburgh

You can travel to Edinburgh by train, car, bicycle, by bus and by plane – or just by walking. If you are planning a trip around Scotland then you may find it easier to park your car in an outlying bus/ride car park and save on car parking charges, or if you are very unlucky a car park ticket which can be a very expensive method of parking! So take the stain out of finding a car park and paying a lot for parking and use the park and rides situated around the outskirts of the city. If you are staying in the city for a few days or longer then look out for car parking that is part of the accommodation, many guest houses and hotels have car parks for their guests, then use public transport, taxis or Shanks’s pony (your legs) to travel around the city.
